Our Framework

We use a comprehensive, research-based approach designed to improve student outcomes and foster high academic achievement, which underpins our whole-child approach to education.

A Supportive and Rigorous Academic Experience

Strategic Teachers and Professional Development

Our school’s professional culture emphasizes collaborative learning and support, helping teachers strengthen their expertise in strategic instruction as they master new strategies and refine their practice together.

Deeper Learning through Relevant, Engaging Curriculum and Timely Assessment

Our rigorous and engaging curriculum aligns with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and is designed to promote curiosity, foster a love for learning, promote higher-order thinking and content mastery, and support the transfer of learning across subjects and from the classroom to the real world. Student data is a central influence on our instructional design. Assessments inform the curriculum and daily classroom instruction.

Co-Teaching

Co-teaching allows each student to reap the benefits from the additional instructional intensity and support of two highly trained teachers. The co-teaching model enables a greater level of differentiated and small group instruction in a class of heterogeneous learners.

Comprehensive Student Supports

Welcome to the Life Coach Suite

Life Coaching

Life Coaching at CACPCS connects students, staff, parents, and caregivers with a dedicated team of caring social work professionals who link students and families to the wide range of Children’s Aid and community-based supports to help address barriers to learning. The Life Coaching team also works directly with entire classes, small groups, and individual students to help them develop the social and emotional skills needed to be successful in school and in life.

Parent Engagement and Support for Families

Our parents are deeply engaged in supporting their students and one another, and they can access community-based resources in a welcoming space where they are supported by CACPCS and Children’s Aid staff.

Expanded Learning Opportunities

It's all about the learning.

Extended Day and Extended Year

CACPCS has a longer school day (7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and a longer year (180+ days) than traditional public schools. This additional time on task maximizes the impact of CACPCS’s rigorous curriculum and supportive instructional model.

After-School, Enrichment Activities, Summer Camps, and Programming

Through its institutional partner, Children’s Aid, CACPCS offers free after-school and summer enrichment programming for K-8 families. These programs help our students improve interpersonal communication skills, self-esteem, and teamwork; enhance academic skills; spark intellectual curiosity; and explore their interests while deepening their understanding of their community, New York City, the U.S., and the world.
